The Hunter Holmes McGuire Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center is seeking an experienced Board Certified/Eligible Intensivist (Surgery) - to join the Surgical service line.

You must be able to teach medical students and residents and will be expected to see patients in the clinic and the inpatient units and to perform procedures as appropriate to specialty including bronchoscopy, laparoscopy and endoscopy procedures and take call. The board eligible or board certified physician must have (1) Completed fellowship training in critical care/surgical critical care/anesthesia and (2) An academic focus in critical care or other biomedical basic science research by teaching as evidence by teaching awards, targeted publications, presentations and potentially research funding or awards. Experience in Cardio Thoracic Surgery including LVAD and Heart Transplant is preferred.

Must be eligible for academic appointment at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine. Board certification or eligibility in Surgery is required for academic appointment at VCU.
