The Biochemistry Section in the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic is recruiting an academic Clinical Mass Spectrometry Development Specialist with a minimum of 3 years of experience developing assays using mass spectrometry in a clinical laboratory environment or diagnostics industry to lead a diverse group of 7 development technologists. The successful applicant has a PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology, clinical chemistry or related fields. Candidates must have previous experience in chromatography and mass spectrometry method development and the ability to provide technical and scientific guidance to development technologists. This Clinical Development Staff position will be responsible for test development, validation and implementation of clinical tests in state-of-the-art LC-MS/MS and Q-TOF platforms with application in the areas of Toxicology, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, Endocrinology, Biochemical Genetics and Immunology. Candidates with experience in GC-MS, ICP-MS, and immunoassay platforms, and previous experience in leadership are preferred. The Biochemistry Section provides diagnostic and consultative services for the Cleveland Clinic Health System (CCHS) and is the central laboratory for CCHS hospitals in northeast Ohio. Laboratories in the Section include automated chemistry, special chemistry and immunopathology. The section is supported by 5 medical directors and there are ample opportunities for clinical and translational research, innovation, and teaching students, residents, fellows, and allied health staff.
