We are seeking a full-time faculty member to join the section at the White River Junction VA Medical Center / Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Excellent opportunities are available for those with interest in a variety of research areas, including health services research, quality improvement and basic sciences research.

You should be BE/BC in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine and have a strong commitment to teaching and patient care. Clinical responsibilities will include outpatient and inpatient pulmonary consultation and attending in a multi-disciplinary ICU. As a faculty member, you will be expected to participate fully in the education of Pulmonary and Critical Care fellows, Internal Medicine residents, and medical students. In addition, promotion and development of safety, quality, and process improvement activities and policies to facilitate delivery of services and compliance with administrative and regulatory requirements are expected elements.

The White River Junction VA Medical Center is a 74 bed, acute care facility that provides a full range of primary, secondary, and specialty care. We are dually affiliated with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and the University of Vermont (UVM) College of Medicine. The medical center prides itself in providing high-quality, patient-centric care to our Veterans as well as training and education to medical students, residents, and fellows.

Federal Retirement Plan:

  • How is the pension funded? VA employees hired after January 1, 2014 automatically contribute 4.4% of their salary each pay period and the VA contributes 8.3% of the employee's salary each pay period for a total annual contribution percentage equal to 12.7% of the employee's salary
  • Similar to the 401(k) savings plans widely available in the private sector, the TSP allows employees to tax defer a portion of their income each year, subject to the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service.
  • The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching contributions, depending on the amount of the employee contribution
  • For retired military personnel, these benefits are in addition to full monthly retirement pay or pension
  • In addition to FERS, VA provides health care insurance coverage for retired personnel
  • Disability Retirement
  • Employees are vested in a federal pension after only 5 years' service
