About this Opportunity

The Ward Family Heart Center at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, is seeking a general pediatric cardiologist for our position that will be primarily based at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) in Kansas City, KS, 4 miles from our main location.

This new position stems from the integration between the Departments of Pediatrics at Children’s Mercy and KUMC. The pediatric enterprise at KUMC includes a 35-bed NICU, a 6-bed PICU and a pediatric inpatient floor. Clinical responsibilities at KUMC include staffing outpatient clinics, inpatient consults and shared overnight call. There will be additional clinical responsibilities within the Children’s Mercy enterprise in metropolitan Kansas City, potentially including some outreach clinics. The successful candidate will join an existing group of 29 cardiologists, 4 surgeons and 30 APNs. Given the short distances between campuses and the availability of videoconferencing, we expect our KUMC-based physician to be integrated into the clinical team at our main campus. Board eligibility in Pediatric Cardiology is required. Strong communication and collaborative skills are key.

There are ample opportunities for clinical research and teaching medical students, residents and fellows. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience.

Our Heart Center serves a population of over 5 million in the heart of the USA. In 2018 we were ranked #13 nationally by USNWR.
