Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, a designated level II trauma center, has a total of 274 licensed beds and houses one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the health system, caring for over 60,000 patients per year, including nearly 10,000 pediatric patients. With an extraordinarily high acuity mix and diverse local demographic, the GWV pediatric admission rate, from within the emergency department, is around 4%. Children admitted from our emergency department are cared for in the GWV Janet Weis Children’s Hospital pediatric unit and/or our level III NICU.
The Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center Emergency Department includes:
- 55 patient care areas
- A three-bed self-contained trauma unit
- A Rapid Evaluation Unit for vertical level threes
- 24/7 clinical pharmacists with ED pharmacy residents
- Scribes, Care Managers and a strong, stable PEM certified nursing staff
- X-ray, CT scan and point of care lab services available right in the department
Geisinger is seeking candidates with superior clinical and interpersonal skills and a strong desire to participate in program development, medical education and research. Candidates must be Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship trained.
