Physician Advisor, Case Management, and Utilization Review

Responsibilities

The Physician Advisor plays a critical role in promoting evidence-based standards of medical care while maintaining appropriate utilization of hospital resources. The position's emphasis is on acting as a liaison and facilitating communication between the Department of Care Coordination, Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, and Administration. The Physician Advisor will also address systems-based practice, process improvement, regulatory and quality considerations in the delivery of medical care. Performs the duties of this role according to the organizational objectives, hospital policies, standards of practice and Federal and State regulations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical practice experience. • An active member in good standing of a hospital's medical staff and participating member of various medical committees. • Knowledgeable in basic principles of utilization management and quality assessment. • Strong clinical judgment and technical abilities. • Strong collaboration skills with other physicians. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. • Licensed to practice medicine in a hospital-based specialty (e.g. hospital medicine, critical care medicine) without restrictions in the State where performing Physician Advisor duties. Familiarity and usage with MCG. ABQAURP preferred, though not required. An MBA or Master’s in Organizational Development/Leadership, or, a Master’s in Design Management is a plus.
