ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

Autism Psychologist Position

The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Sciences at Children’s Mercy Kansas City is recruiting a psychologist with expertise in Autism Spectrum Disorders and associated developmental disabilities to join the Autism Team at Children’s Mercy. The primary focus of the position will be clinical service delivery: evidence-based autism diagnostic evaluations and/or behavioral intervention/parent training for children with autism/developmental disorders, based on the candidate’s expertise. The position will also include program development opportunities focused on improving community access to evidence-based services. Additional responsibilities may include community educational presentations, school consultation, and teaching/supervision in the hospital’s APA-accredited psychology internship, psychology and developmental-behavioral pediatrics fellowships, pediatric residency program, and psychology practicums. Research opportunities growing out of program development work may also be available. The position carries an academic appointment at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Medicine, with rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Candidates must have completed a PhD or PsyDs in clinical psychology or a closely related field (e.g., child clinical psychology, school psychology, behavioral psychology/behavior analysis), completed an APA-approved internship, and be license-eligible as a psychologist in Missouri and Kansas. Candidates should have specialized training related to  autism/developmental disabilities, including evidence-based diagnostic evaluation (e.g., ADOS training, interdisciplinary diagnostic experience) and/or behavioral intervention (e.g., traditional ABA and naturalistic developmental-behavioral intervention models, behavioral parent training). Strengths in both diagnostic evaluation and behavioral intervention would be desirable, but candidates with strengths in either area are encouraged to apply. Completion of a postdoctoral fellowship is preferred but not required.

Candidates at all levels of experience will be considered. The position includes a competitive salary and benefits package. The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Sciences at Children’s Mercy offers a desirable and collegial work environment with an excellent quality of life.
