Allergy and Immunology – Food Allergy Director

The Division of Allergy and Immunology at Children’s Mercy-Kansas City is seeking a board-certified allergist with specific interest and research experience in allergies and sensitivities related to food. The preferred candidate will have five (5) years of experience and a track record of extramural federal funding.

The primary responsibilities of this position are to design, supervise, conduct and participate in collaborative research in food allergies and sensitivities; seek and secure grant support; write/publish articles in peer-review journals; and present at national meetings. Involvement with industry-sponsored research is anticipated. Interdisciplinary efforts are expected with other Children’s Mercy faculty and other divisions is expected and encouraged. There will be a percentage of clinical responsibilities as well.

Our clinical team is comprised of ten physicians, four fellows-in-training, four nurse practitioners, and a large ancillary staff who provide high-quality care to our patients, offer excellent education to our residents and fellows, and advance our understanding of allergic and immunologic disorders through research.

The division fosters a collaborative research environment characterized by projects that span multiple subspecialties and range in scope from basic to clinical and applied research. Members of our faculty possess a broad range of expertise from basic immunology to clinical trials and epidemiology and are recipients of extramural research funding from the NIH, the EPA, and HUD. The section also has an active clinical pharmacology research program and participates in industry sponsored clinical trials from Phase I through Phase IV.
