Advocate Children’s Hospital and Advocate Medical Group are seeking a BC/BE Director of Adult Congenital Heart Disease physician to lead our Adult Congenital Heart Disease program located in metro Chicago, Illinois. Advocate Children’s Hospital Heart Institute has been a major center for pediatric cardiology and cardiovascular surgery for more than 25 years and includes 23 full time pediatric cardiologists and 2 full time congenital CV surgeons. The adult cardiology practice of Advocate Medical Group is comprised of 150 full time employed cardiologists. Advocate Physician Partners includes an additional 200 associated adult cardiologists. Both the pediatric and adult cardiology services have several inpatient and many outpatient sites throughout the metro Chicago region. The candidate would be responsible for organizing and directing the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program throughout the Advocate Health Care system. Our goal is to develop a top tier nationally recognized high quality full service ACHD program.
Key areas of focus for this position include expert clinical management of a highly complex adult congenital heart disease population, continued organization, coordination and growth of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program and development of an interdisciplinary team of providers to meet the dynamic, multisystem needs of the adults with congenital heart disease. This individual will work in collaboration with the program’s dedicated adult congenital heart disease nurse practitioner and other established pediatric and adult cardiologists and congenital CV surgeons and other support personnel in an area of focused significant growth for our organization. Interest in clinical research is encouraged and will be actively supported. The position would include teaching activities for the pediatric and adult cardiology fellows as well as house staff and medical students. Options for academic affiliation are in place.
- Must hold unrestricted MD degree and be eligible for licensure in the state of Illinois
- Board certification in either pediatric or adult cardiology is required.
- Board certification or eligibility in adult congenital heart disease is required.
- Fellowship training or extensive experience in adult congenital heart disease is required.
